Bonnie Stump for Georgetown City Council

GEORGETOWN IS GROWING - LET'S GO FOR QUALITYBonnie Stump for Georgetown City Council

Growth, and the challenges that come with growth, will be the most urgent issue facing our community over the next decade. By 2030, Georgetown is expected to more than double in population. Intelligent, long-range planning can assure that growth is a vibrant asset for our community. Let's make sure Georgetown's growth is a smart and vibrant path to the future.

Key growth issues that will require critical planning decisions in the next 2-3 years include:

  • Ample water supply
  • Electricity sources and infrastructure
  • Effective public transportation
  • Continuing expansion and development of parks, trails, and open spaces
  • Effective economic development that creates jobs as well as broadens our tax base to keep Georgetown affordable and competitive in the Central Texas area.
  • Housing that meets the needs of those who are a vital core of our community, teachers, firefighters, business entrepreneurs, police officers, and young families.
  • Working in close partnership with Georgetown schools, Williamson county and local businesses.

ROLES OF CITY COUNCIL AND CITY PROFESSIONAL STAFF

The city council draws the map; the staff drives the car. Georgetown is lucky to have competent, professional management that can get us to our destination as a community. The job of City Council is to let the staff know where we want to go. A partnership between the staff and council creates an effective and responsive government.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Economic development can be a boon to everybody if we continue to attract new jobs and opportunities to Georgetown. The citizens of Georgetown, not the developers, should decide what kind of development we want. Developers and businesses seeking tax breaks and infrastructure must do their fair share.

ACCESSIBILITY

I am a good listener and I want to be an advocate for all residents of District 2. Let me know what YOU care about.

Skills I will bring to the Council:

  • Deep roots in Georgetown (4 generations of my family live in District 2).
  • Transparency and honesty are very important to me. I will work to keep our city's ethics ordinances strong.
  • Appreciation for diversity, both of opinion and background.
  • Business experience in managing a private practice in this community and an understanding of the impact of city policies on small business.
  • Experience owning and renovating property in the downtown area.
  • Background in public and environmental health.
  • I have the time and energy to dedicate to serving on the Council.
